Summer Fair - PTA Report

Thank you to all the people who supported our first ever Summer Dog Show at Wickham Court School.
The rain stayed away, and the slightly cool weather made it a pleasant day for all our doggy visitors – over 65 in total!  Dogs in every shape, size, breed and age took part in a wide selection of novelty classes, from musical sit to best trick – won by a singing dog!

Our beautiful Best in Show cup and rosette which were sponsored by BR Stacey Fencing was deservedly won by Skye, the rescue collie, and the gorgeous Reserve Champion rosette by Fleur, a german wire haired pointer. Rennaissance Rosettes sponsored the very popular Waggiest tail class, and 1st place was a close call!

The judges Sonya Miller- Smith and Corinna Hughes had the unenviable job of judging the 16 classes, but aided by veterinary nurses from Darwin Veterinary Centre and some of the PTA, they made great choices which resulted in lots of smiling owners and fluttering rosettes! Darwin Veterinary Centre also provided treat bags of dog chews, which went down very well with the competitors.

The BBQs and salads proved very popular and there was high praise for the fresh burgers.  People enjoyed sitting in the café area for a spot of lunch before exploring our doggy themed side stalls and the wares on sale from our visiting traders.

The fair had a great atmosphere.  It was great to be able to welcome so many people from outside the school. We have yet to hear the final total, but it looks to be able to make a substantial contribution to our project to buy curtaining and staging for the Austin Hall.
