School Travel Plan
Latest news about the School Travel Plan.
We have been working on our School Travel Plan (STP) since March 2009 and in that time we have achieved a lot!
In October 2009 we were awarded a “sustainable” award in recognition of achievement in sustainable travel initiatives outlined in our approved STP.
Since then we have continued to work towards encouraging staff and pupils to be more aware of how they travel to school and how we could use more sustainable and environmentally friendly methods by holding termly surveys. Our cycle shelter was installed last summer and hopefully as the weather improves Senior students and staff will begin to use their bikes.
We held a banner design competition in order to encourage parents to park away from the gates to keep us all safe on our way to our beautiful grounds. Hannah was the lucky winner and her banner now hangs for all to see. Let’s hope that we will all endeavour to park conscientiously.
Elayda and Edward were our deserving runners up in the banner competition.
In March we held a WOW (Walk Once a Week) badge design competition. The theme was “My walk to school”.
Keep your eyes pealed to see who won our school competition. The 3 winners will go forward into a larger competition to have their design made into one of next years badges.
Don’t forget to Walk Once a Week – four times a month and you will get a WOW badge presented to you in assembly. With the summer weather approaching hopefully we can get everyone to Walk Once a Week!
Some classes have been looking at road safety and Yr. 5/6 worked on a presentation about safe ways to cross the road. They then came and presented it to Yr. 2 and 3. Well done Yr. 5/6.
